Ken Mayfield is an enrolled member of the Muscogee Creek Nation/Alabama Quassarte Tribal Town and was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. From an early age, he was immersed in the traditions and culture of the Muscogee tribe, participating in the Alabama Quassarte stomp grounds. His journey later took him to Haskell Indian Nations University, where he expanded his horizons. In 2015, Ken moved to Mission, Oregon, where he developed a passion for art.
While working at Nixyaawii Community School, Ken played a key role in a cohort that provided students with hands-on studio experience at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, specializing in screen printing and monoprints. Today, he works in graphic design, screen printing, and painting, drawing inspiration from his cultural roots.
When Ken isn’t creating, he loves traveling across Indian Country with his family—Cicily, Nila, and Nicholi—attending powwows and basketball tournaments.
Ken feels deeply honored to join the staff at Crow’s Shadow, where he looks forward to learning from and collaborating with the talented artists who make the institute a special place.
