Emma Barnes joins the Crow’s Shadow team with over eight years of professional arts and culture experience, combined with a decade serving non-profit organizations. She was raised on a small farm in Granger, Washington but has called nearby Pasco home for 16 years. She graduated with a degree in history from Washington State University, before beginning her career in arts and cultural administration as both curator and exhibition designer in gallery and museum spaces. She brings with her a comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit leadership and management, as well as donor and funding development. In her spare time, she dabbles in various art mediums, including illustration, painting, and graphic design.
Emma currently serves as President of the Arts Foundation of the Mid-Columbia and is a board member of Artist Trust. She is an ardent advocate for the arts, and is committed to enhancing equitable access while promoting underrepresented mediums, artists, and perspectives. Her strength and focus as an advocate are in highlighting the economic power of the arts and the benefit the arts bring to communities.
Emma is excited to contribute to the future of Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts as the organization’s first Development Director, carrying forward its mission with dedication, passion, and vision. She looks forward to immersing herself and connecting with the communities CSIA serves and helping to build a strong, sustainable future for CSIA and for future generations.
