The Crow’s Shadow Biennial is back at our partner institution, The Hallie Ford Museum of Art (HFMA), which is the museum of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, United States.
We are excited to announce the release of 7 new editions in Raven Chacon’s For Zitkála Šá Series. The additional images complete a suite of 13 prints, honoring female Indigenous artists.

In this live streaming Zoom event, we spoke with Wendy about her process, research, how she works at Crow’s Shadow, and took questions from the live audience. Everyone also got a peek inside the studio, showing one of her gorgeous litho proofs in process.

In Gathering, the Sheehan’s three Alcove Galleries will display over thirty prints created through the collaboration of Native artists with one of Crow’s Shadow’s Master Printers.
Crow’s Shadow will host a reception and artist talk for Kitai on Thursday, August 22nd from 5 pm to 7 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
After a four year hiatus, Crow’s Shadow is reintroducing a new and improved version of the popular Monothon fundraising event. Monothon 2019 will be a week of monotype printmaking with invited artists coming from around the Pacific Northwest to make prints in the Crow’s Shadow studio, just outside Pendleton. The week will culminate in a gala celebration with an auction of the resulting prints, hosted at the Foundry Vineyards Gallery in Walla Walla.
Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts is pleased to present Nixya’awii Community School Printmaking Exhibition for the fifth consecutive year. This exhibition showcases the prints produced by a group of high school students from NCS. Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday May 24, 5 – 7pm.

The public is invited to Crow’s Shadow to meet Marwin Begaye for an artist talk and studio visit, which will occur from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 31st. Begaye is the first Artist-in-Residence for Crow’s Shadow’s 2018 print residency season.
Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts (CSIA) is pleased to present Nixya’awii Community School Student Print Exhibition. This exhibition will showcase the prints produced by a select group of students from the Nixya’awii Community School. The exhibiting printmaking students are: Ermia Butler, Dancing Star Leighton, EllaMae Looney, Cloe McMichael, Kylie Mountainchief, and Tyanna Van Pelt.
Specifically designed for advanced printmakers and previous retreat participants, this four day intensive immersion workshop will focus on refinement of technique and image development in the creation of unique monotype and monoprints. Participants will hone control over multiple layer printing, ink transparency and modification, and on-press registration within their own unique aesthetic and printmaking practice.
