Nixya’awii Community School Print Exhibition at U of O Portland

UO Portland White Stag Block Reception 12-1:30pm

Crow's Shadow is excited to share that the University of Oregon in Portland is showing the work of our student printmakers at the White Stag Block. The exhibition will be on display at UO Portland in the Light Court Commons through December. Please see their press release below:

The University of Oregon Portland invites you to join UO President Michael H. Schill and other UO leadership at a special art exhibition featuring silk screen, linocut and lithograph prints created by high school students and alumni from Nixya’awii Community School.

An artist reception is at noon on Friday, Dec. 7 at University of Oregon Portland. It will be followed by a hosted lunch from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. The event will feature remarks by President Schill, exhibit curator Cris Moss, and Michelle Van Pelt from Nixya’awii Community School.

Several artists will attend the reception. A select group of students learn printmaking techniques each year at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts in Pendleton. The Nixya’awii Community School is located east of Pendleton on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and is a charter school that focuses on Native American culture, such as using native language in daily school life and serving within the tribal community.
