Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts Welcomes Alyssa Ebinger, TMP as Interim Master Printer

PENDLETON, OR – Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts (CSIA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Alyssa Ebinger, TMP, as Interim Master Printer. Beginning in December 2024, Ebinger will lead the studio and guide its renowned printmaking program as CSIA embarks on a search to fill the role on a permanent basis. Ebinger will split her time between Pendleton, OR, and her home in Amityville, NY, bringing her extensive experience and collaborative spirit to the role.

 

A Tamarind-trained Collaborative Lithographer, Ebinger holds a BS in Art Education from Minnesota State University of Moorhead and an MFA from the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). She honed her expertise at Tamarind Institute’s Printer Training Program, earning the esteemed title of Tamarind Master Printer. She also served as the Frederick Hammersley Apprentice Printer from 2020-2021. Most recently, Ebinger was the Master Printer at Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Austin, TX, where she collaborated with renowned artists such as Ellen Lesperance, Paula Wilson, and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, working across lithography, copper plate etching, relief, and monotype.

 

“CSIA is poised for an exciting chapter, and we are confident Alyssa’s technical expertise, collaborative spirit, and unique vision will inspire our artists and our studio’s direction,” says Phinney Brown, Executive Director of CSIA. “Her arrival marks a new phase of growth and creativity, and we are eager to see the impact she will make.”

 

Ebinger will be leading projects with a lineup of celebrated Native artists in 2025, including Phillip Cash Cash (Cayuse, Nez Perce), Camas Logue (Klamath Modoc), Frank Buffalo Hyde (Onondaga), and Ryan! Feddersen (Colville), underscoring CSIA’s continued commitment to advancing Native voices in contemporary art through the medium of collaborative printmaking.

 

“As Alyssa brings fresh energy to our studio, we’re excited to carry that momentum forward,” Brown adds. “In early 2025, we plan to begin the search for a permanent leader for our printmaking program. With guidance from a committee of staff, board members, and industry professionals, this effort will shape the next chapter for Crow’s Shadow as a vibrant center for innovation and excellence in Native fine art.”
