Ryan Pierce

Ryan Pierce is one of the founding members of Signal Fire, a wilderness residency program based in Oregon. Pierce’s paintings draw on his intense interest in ecology and natural systems. Often working on large-scale canvases his subjects allude to mythologies, or suggest narrative through taxonomical arrangements. He has attended residencies from regional centers such as Caldera in Sisters, Oregon; Sitka Center for Art & Ecology in Cascade Head, Oregon; and as far-flung as Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, Norway. His work has been featured in many national and international exhibitions; he is represented by Elizabeth Leach Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Pierce’s 2016 residency at Crow’s Shadow will mark his first time working in our studios.
