Crow’s Shadow is pleased to present “Explorations in Print: Nixya’awii Student Exhibition” in our gallery from May 19- June 17, 2016. This special exhibition showcases all of the prints produced by a select group of students from the Nixya’awii Community High School, located nearby on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Over the past school year the students have been learning printmaking in the Crow’s Shadow studio under the direction of CSIA Master Printer, Frank Janzen. These students have been visiting 1-2 times per week and building their knowledge of linocut printmaking. Each student has been instructed in all the technical aspects of this process and has produced their own limited edition prints. The resulting works have been of remarkable quality and exemplify the creative potential of these talented young artists.
This is the second year of this collaborative project and is generously funded through grants from the Oregon Arts Commission Arts Build Communities Fund and the Umatilla County Cultural Coalition.
