Please join us for an exhibition reception at Portland State University for Remote Impressions: Works from Crow’s Shadow Press. The exhibition will be on display from March 9 through June 27 in the newly renovated Broadway Lobby Gallery of Lincoln Hall. The reception will begin at 8:00 pm on March 30th, following the Southern Graphics Council (SGC) conference opening keynote address.

Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts (CSIA) is a rural print studio and invitational residency program located on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation just outside of Pendleton, Oregon. Crow’s Shadow works with a select handful of artists each year releasing small runs of limited-edition prints; the studio specializes in lithography and places an emphasis on working with contemporary Native American artists. Over the last 24 years Crow’s Shadow has become a highly respected center for contemporary printmaking and prints from our studios have been recently featured at major institutions such as the Fred Jones Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum, and the National Museum of the American Indian in both Washington DC and New York locations.

Remote Impressions highlights both the history of printmaking at Crow’s Shadow Press and the studio’s significant ties to the region. Curated by CSIA director Karl Davis this exhibition features works by 18 artists including several PSU alumni and faculty such as Pat Boas, Damien Gilley, Jenene Nagy, and Wendy Red Star, as well as notable regional artists Rick Bartow, Joe Feddersen, James Lavadour, Lillian Pitt, and Marie Watt among others. An abbreviated catalog will accompany the exhibition.
